Symptoms of Arsenic poisoning can be subtle or extreme. Unless you reach high levels or you are looking for it particularly, it can be difficult to see as a cause of many issues. I’d like to share some symptoms and sources of arsenic toxicity.
Pesticides that contain arsenic toxicity could have been sprayed on farm fields or the heavy metal can remain in the soil. Growing an organic plant in that same soil can be cross-contaminated by pulling it into the roots. There may even be some “organic” fertilizers that are contaminated with sewage sludge containing arsenic and other heavy metals or toxins. Chicken manure that people use for their vegetable gardens can become contaminated due to their chicken feed containing Roxarsone which is an anti-parasitic medication used since the 1960s. Arsenic has been called the ‘slow death’ metal so consistently detoxing is necessary.
Long-term effects of arsenic exposure from food or water sources can lead to skin lesions and cancer. It also has a link to cardiovascular disease and diabetes. If a pregnant woman has exposure to arsenic, it can lead to a negative impact on the baby’s cognitive development.
Symptoms may include aches, pains, weakness, sore throat, diarrhea, ringing in the ears, vertigo, headaches, pale appearance, anorexia, fever, hair loss, chills, loss of appetite, bluish lips, skin rashes, excess saliva, difficulty swallowing or breathing, irritability, dermatitis, slow wound healing, kidney damage, goiter, keratosis, stupor, jaundice, abdominal pain, muscle spasms, seizures, coma, confusion, herpes infections, and even medication overdoses.
It’s found in common places and can cause surprising symptoms! For sources that can be contributing to these symptoms read more on this link.
